... How many photographs are there in the original collection?
We are not really sure. About one thousand have been catalogued so far but there are still a lot more to develop. Therefore new photographs will be constantly added to the collection on taxiphote.com.
... Did Jose Villar travel all around the world?
He travelled several times to France, Switzerland, Italy and Portugal and also to Argentina and Uruguay. But he exchanged photographs of Spain and bought ones of other countries during his visits to Paris.
... How do we know if he is the genuine photographer?
The original photographs are glass slides, hand-written with their description. In the photograph description on the web, if you read “Photographer: J. Villar Martelo” then we have the originals. If you read "Collection J. Villar" then it’s possible that other copies could be found in the original format, because he was not the photographer.
... What camera did he use?
He used a stereoscopic camera, the Verascope Richard.
